The holiday season is upon us, and although many people will fill their plates with turkey, mashed potatoes, and other traditional Thanksgiving fare, we couldn’t resist the chance to look at a dish called the Turducken.
Talk about Turducken
Portmanteaux are words that combine parts of two other words. For example, a motel is made up of motor and hotel or brunch from breakfast and lunch. If you haven’t already guessed, a turkey is made from a deboned bird (or hen) stuffed inside a duck.
You could also choose the Gooducken, which is a goose filled with a duck and stuffed inside a chicken.
This “roast without equal” is a data-linkid=”536e3a” href=”https://www.dictionary.com/browse/bustard”>bustard/a>, stuffed with guinea fowl, pheasant, and chicken. This “roast sans pareil” is a bustard stuffed with a Turkey, Goose, Pheasant Duck, Woodcock, Partridge, Plover, Lapwing, Quail, Thrush, Lark, Ortolan Bunting, and Garden Warbler. What’s too much?
You can’t add some of these ingredients to your Thanksgiving menu, but that doesn’t mean you should exclude vegetarians. The only limit is your imagination.
